Erin Jones Independent Education and Systems Consultant, Public Speaker Former Candidate for State Superintendent (OSPI)
Erin Jones has been involved in and around schools for the past 26 years. She has taught in a variety of environments, from predominantly Black to predominantly White to some of the most diverse communities in the nation. Her long list of awards and recognitions includes the Most Innovative Foreign Language Teacher, Washington State Milken Educator of the Year, the White House’s “Champion of Change”, and Washington State PTA’s “Outstanding Educator Award”. In addition, she served as an executive for two State Superintendents and led college-access work at the school district level after serving Seeking an opportunity to further her leadership in education, Erin ran as a candidate for State Superintendent and was the first Black woman to run for any state office in Washington State, a race she lost by a mere 1%. Since then, Erin has worked with educators, schools, school districts and numerous organizations to improve pedagogy, cultural responsiveness and supports for all students. Erin andher husband of 25 years have a daughter who recently graduated from Central Washington University, a son who is a senior at Harvey Mudd College and another son who coaches high school football with husband James, who is a high school teacher in the North Thurston School District.
Johnny Lake, PhD Consultant, Public Speaker
Dr. Lake is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Willamette University with a B.S. degree in History. He holds a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from University of Oregon. Dr. Lake's research has focused on assessing student attitudes and providing a forum for student's perspective and voice. He serves as an advocate and leader in improving academic outcomes for students of color and other marginalized groups. Johnny has served as an Associate Professor of Education and Counseling in the teacher and counselor preparation programs. He is an Administrator on Special Assignment with the Eugene 4J school district and works with teachers and students to improve leadership, communication and academic outcomes for all students. He provides teacher training institutes and student leadership in the US and Canada.
Dr. Lake consults with a variety of agencies and organizations, including courts and justice systems, public service agencies, leadership groups, universities, mental health agencies, local and federal agencies, community and churches. He is a writer, teacher and public speaker. Dr. Johnny Lake is a father and has raised 4 children. He is still very much a Southerner and appreciates your kindness and hospitality.
